Philosophy
Ephesians 4:15-16 says that, “Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
One implication of this passage is that it is important for different ages and generations within the church to interact with and minister to one another on a regular basis. Therefore we want to encourage and equip families to worship, grow, and serve together with the rest of the church as much as possible.
This is why we seek to create family-friendly environments at our various gatherings in a number of different ways.
However, this does not mean that the gatherings of the church should devolve into mass chaos where kids run wild and people are unable to concentrate on the Lord and the teaching of His Word.
In 1st Corinthians 14:33 it says, “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.” And verse 40 goes on to say that, “all things should be done decently and in order.”
So, while we encourage parents and members of the congregation to work with their children and teach them the skills necessary for them to worship with the rest of the body in an orderly and peaceful way, we also realize that kids (and parents) have different needs and there are times when a different environment with more individual attention can be a helpful and strategic part of the training process. Therefore, we seek to provide those options, and pray that God will give each family the wisdom to know what is best for them and their family in any given situation.
